I noticed the number 402 935 7733 on my bank statement. It shows as an ebay purchase with only that number as reference. I didn' make this purchase so I alerted my bank for fraud. The number can be legitimate but someone is using it for fraud. They are stealing from my and other people's accounts.

This is just a temporary charge from PayPal services. They use it to validate your card. The charge will be removed later so it won' be on your final bank statement.

After I saw the numbers 402 935 7733 I thought this was a fraud but apparently it was just something that I bought on eBay. I found it on my emails with the date of purchase and the charge.

Not fraudulent, this one is legitimate! A charge on my credit card was made to Paypal, with a name and a number that is a PayPal phone number. There is no record of the payment through PayPal, and PayPal is unaware of this particular credit card. I also had forgotten about this transaction. What is the explanation? Well it was just a purchase I made on eBay. eBay owns PayPal, so I think they are using PayPal services for all payments, even if you pay with a credit card that is not connected to eBay. They might avoid this confusion by listing it on eBay instead. It's all too easy to forget about some of these payments and when we don' see them on Paypal, we start to think it is a fraud or scam.

This appeared on my bank statement after buying an item from eBay. They have charged me for the correct amount for my purchase.
